I stuck to my plan to use the Florida Challenge half iron tri as a training race but nearly everything went better than I expected so I ended up finishing in 6:23:28 instead of the 7 or so hours I thought I would. I also got second place in my age group, unbelievably.
There were only 9 of us, though, and the really fast ones that were there last year decided to do something else today. Am I the only one who looks up previous year's race results?
More details to follow soon. Need to get some sleep before a flight tomorrow morning!

Well done! Sometimes no pressure makes for a great performance... Have a safe journey.
Nope, your not the only one who looks up previous years times. Have a nice trip.
Extremely well done, Shirley!
Safe travels.
Yes, good work!
Wow! That is awesome! I can't wait to hear more.
WoooHooo! Awesome!!
I'm convinced that some of the best race results happen when we don't place high expectations on ourselves. I think everyone does better when they are relaxed.
Congratulations, Shirley! You never cease to amaze me.
Just getting caught up.
REALLY nice post from Dr. Dave, and always nice to read about such a great partnership.
Really nice job on the Floridean race! Looking forward to the race report and pictures.
That bike looks hard.
wooohoo 2nd place AG..good stuff :)
Congrats Shirley! Look forward to hearing more about it.
Wow, great job!!! Looking forward to the details. I would like to see how much your improved swimming helped your overall performance!
Travel safe!
Great job for just training!! And no...I look up past year results too! ;) It's that type A thing...
Even I look up past results, always hoping...
Congratulations on your race and your 2nd place age group finish! That's just awesome!
Safe travels and I look forward to more details!
Congratulations... !!! That's a lot of minutes off the original expectations..
Yes, no pain at all in my legs, feet, or any part of my body. I feel today like if I went to the park yesterday to feed the birds. Not even a sense of a 20-miler, nothing, what maybe is telling me that I have more juice to put on the race??? What do you think?
All the really fast ones did something else... except for you I guess!!
Nicely done! Way to tear it up!
Good race and a good time. Now you can rest up a little and get ready for the "real race" within the next two weeks or so.
That is GREAT!!! You are one machine girl!
Love your previous post. Left a comment on it as well.
Looking forward tot the details of your race.
You totally rocked it!
amazing job!!!! you are so awesome :)
Congratulations, that's awesome!
Congratulations! That's great.. Cant wait for the full report!
Congratulations on a splendid finish. No need to look up last year, each yerar's finish is its own competition. We all do it though, I took 3rd in a race once (7th actually) and I went way back and figured that any other year I would have been out of the running. It makes you believe in luck.
Yay Shirley! Smashing your goal, finishing second in your age group - not bad at all for a training race!
NICE JOB!! Way to go, Shirley!!
Great job! Wow!
And no, you are not the only one who looks up last years' results.
;)
Way to go!!! Very well done, Shirley :-)
Good job!!
