This is probably what would happen if I ever asked dear Dave to hang up our Xmas lights. Assuming we have any Xmas lights. So instead, we do ourselves (and others) a favor by going back to Kona for the holidays. And watching the NBC broadcast of the Ironman World Championship last Saturday was the perfect precursor. So fun to see some of the best triathletes in the world racing in my hood!
Hope all of you enjoy your holidays. I'll be back mid-January with a race report from the Zoom Yah Yah Indoor Marathon in Minnesota to kick off the new year. Then iron training begins in February. Aloha!

PS - If you want to see Dave and I doing some holiday cross-training, click on the image above to visit my sister Jade Lady's blog.

Wow, Dad's lost a lot of weight with all that cycling. He looks almost as thin as you. :)
Have a wonderful holiday season!!!
Happy Holidays! I love reading your blog. It's so inspirational!

Aloha Shirley!
Enjoy your trip back to Kona!!
That's a great place to go for the holidays! What a smart cookie you are. Travel safe and have fun in paradise!
Happy Holiday's as well, and that video is sooo funny. Didn't realized you and Dave danced so well Hee Hee. Enjoy your vacation.
B2B HERE WE COME.
Enjoy Christmas and be a good girl :) Santa is watching.
Happy Holidays.......
I watched the Kona race on tv and thought of all you Hawaii people. What an amazing race in an amazing place. Travel safe.
Well, I had a good laugh watching the animated Christmas card on your sister's blog. I hope you have a Happy Christmas and New Year. I can hardly believe its almost Christmas. I certainly hope I can swim on Christmas Day and revive the tradition I started when in Kailua-Kona. You should do the same while there, and make the most of your time there.
LOL. I like the pic!
That's what would happen if we attempted light hanging - I just threw a whole bunch of old lights away. Have fun in Kona, and ...boy, do the two of you look cute!
Lights are evil!
Love the pic. Enjoy Hawaii! Eat some chocolate covered mac nuts for me!
Oh, I'm so jealous you're headed back to Hawaii! Have a great time back home! And yes, it has been very cold out here the last few days...I guess it's been warmer than usual up until now so we were due some of this colder weather.
ha ha! merry christmas!
INdoor marathon. Are you serious!?!? Wow!!
Happy holidays. See ya when you get back. If you ever come to DC call me and we'll run on the Mall.
Happy Hawaiian Holidays!
I'll miss you and all your crazy inspirational posts for the rest of the year, but good luck at Zoom Yah Yah!!!
I love the elves, so good. Just read your 2008 in review and have been wondering what I've been doing with all my time. Jeeze, way to go!
Thanks for the tip. That's definitely one thing that I'll keep in mind. 20M has been the magic number but 18 sounds more realistic at this point. I'll rely on muscle memory come January, and being that it's a flat course, it might not be as bad as I think.
Happy holidays!
LOL on the lights!! And the "elf" holiday cross training is hilarious!
Oh and good luck on your indoor marathon. Can't wait to read all about it!
Happy Holidays! Enjoy!
Merry Christmas my friend.
Coincidentally I was telling my hubby today that I haven't yet heard Mele Kalikimaka during this season.
With White Christmas. Mele Kalikimaka was always my favorite from the grand Bing Crosby.
Well, Mele Kalikimaka to you and your family, and the best for 2009!!!!

I love those Christmas lights! That's how I'd do it!!
And Pharmie and I will be out of town during the Zoom Ya Ya, so I can't come cheer! I'm so bummed!!
Merry Christmas!!
I hope you had a merry Christmas in Kona? Are you staying there until Mid-January? I just googled the Zoom Yah Yah Indoor marathon - crazy but fun! And SO different from what you've done before.
Thank you for a year of wonderfully personal, moving and inspirational posts - you are really a big part of the online community Shirley! Personally I am just so grateful you're out there. May 2009 bring you everything you could ask for.
i hope you are enjoying your holidays back in kona! best wishes for the year of iron 2009!
Just wanted to say I missed you!
I love the elves!! Merry Christmas (belated) and Happy New Year!
I was just in Hawaii (Maui) and I kept thinking I saw you (even though I know you are on another island) I can't wait for your Zoom Yah Yah report, it sounds like a blast!
I also can't wait to watch your Iron training and progress toward rocking the hell out of B2B!!
We expect to arrive while you are running.. Hear us cheering already.
I love the video. Hope you have a great 2009!!
I'm confused. Are you doing The Hustle, The Macarena, or The Electric Slide in this pic? Either way it's very funny! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Mele kalikimaka me ka hau'oli makahiki hou. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
