Last year I had the bright idea to host Thanksgiving at my house this year. We invited my (step) daughter and son-in-law from Utah, Dave's parents from Texas, and Dave's sister and brother-in-law, who live only a couple hours north of us. So, a total of 8 people, including us, for our first-ever Thanksgiving dinner (no grandkids that I know of, yet). What the hell was I thinking???
I'm now running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get everything for work done by tomorrow, my house cleaned, and all the various meals planned and prepared. Oh, how I wish I could cook like Petra and Bree. Or, at least use a crockpot like Wendy does.
So I'm going to say this early and make it quick because I don't know if I'll have time to say it later ...
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

You have a lovely Thanksgiving Shirley. I'm sure it will all unfold beautifully, and you will all have a wonderful time.
I'm with Wendy here honey - it's not a cookery competition but a chance to have some lovely times with family. I'm sure you'll do a great job - keep it simple sweetheart!
I'm going to have to check Wendy out. I, too, am a crock pot maven!
Get everyone good and drunk with some wine and have a blast and who cares about the food? More wine!
:-D
Happy Thanksgiving Shirley, it will turn out great!
It will be a memorable effort. They surely will recognize your hard work to make it special. Enjoy it when you can.
Shirley, have a beautiful Thanksgiving. Enjoy the family and the rush. I will be totally alone (husband in Cali, older son moved last week to Colorado, second son went today to Florida to be with his dad, daughter in Peace Corps in Thailand, mom and siblings overseas).
However, for first time I appreciate being alone. With the marathon this coming Sunday I wanna do NOTHING, and take care of NOTHING. So, not even a crock pot will be my friend. A Safeway already roasted turkey and mashed potatoes will be my meal. It will be a memorable Thanksgiving too, and with many THANKS to give to God. We are alive and well!
Blessings for you and your family

Oh, you'll do fine...
I'm actually going through my cookbook right now to make sure that I have all the ingredients I need. I am SOOOO the type to forget a key ingredient when all the stores are closed!
Have a great thanksgiving!

I did not accept invitations or give any out. Just my immediate family. I'll smoke a turkey brest in our cold, snowy weather!
Happy Thanksgiving.
I'm sure it went swimmingly today (pun intended). Did you REALLY prepare that whole long menu? Our meal consisted of four dishes and it was great.
Dave and I made everything except the green salad, which no one missed. Now we're enjoying leftovers :-)
