Dave Friday morning. In just over a month, he's lost 17# and 6% body fat (per the Tanita Ironman scale we have) by eating cleaner.
Later on Friday, a new tri club blog I created went live. (Some of you may recognize the template from another blog I used to have but have decided not to pursue as I am just too busy!)
Saturday morning I helped out at a local race by doing some data entry. My fingers are actually my fastest body parts :-)
Afterwards, Dave and I went for a 2-hour ride. In 55-65 deg temps, he cruised along at 20-21 mph while I struggled to keep up. Grrr.
Sunday morning he set out to demolish me again, this time on a 30-mile ride. Lean MEANIE!
At least Sunday temps got up into the 70's. (My apologies to all who are snowbound)
We saw some new bicycle-friendly signals on our route. YAY!
After the ride, a 7 mile brick run. Ended up with an 8:41 avg pace, not bad but a 168 AHR was higher than expected. Hmmm.
Then I went to a Total Immersion freestyle swim clinic for my tri club. Since I do a different style of freestyle, I volunteered to take photos/video and be there for support.
But some things are universal no matter what style of freestyle you do, like good head position and balance in the water. I must continue working on these things myself lest I be left in their wake. And that pretty much wraps up my weekend. Hope you all had a good one too!

Wow! Dave is looking svelt. Give him my congrats!
Looking great, Dad! (and you too, Shirley!)
Looks like a fabulous weekend! I envy the sunshine....altho being in California, I can't complain too much. :)
The bummer was I had to get on a plane Sunday night to head to DC. At least it's a short trip this week.
Fun pictures and nice job Dave. I love that body fat loss! Incredible. I'm sure you're a great cheerleader Shirley!
What a weekend! Great workouts. Dave looks amazing! So do you, as always. :)
Dave is looking fantastic and very happy with himself - as he should! You're both looking great actually - but then you always do.
I really do envy you the weather. In an outside pool? We had another dusting of snow last night..
Congratulations to Dave! That is just awesome!
Good for you for being the ever-present volunteer. We need more people like you in this world!
I remember the lifeguard (who is also a coach) pointing out that I did not keep my feet together on the flipturns and that I did not finish my stroke. As you say, things like head position and breathing apply to all styles. So it looks as if I have learned something from studying Karlyn's DVD. In addition, I have not been plagued by injuries as some cynics might believe. The stroke is very easy on the joints.
Way to go Dave!!!
Great weekend and great pictures!
Wow, kudos to Dave! He's looking fit!
Sounds like a productive weekend of workouts all around.
Wow - 17 lbs in a month - way to go Dave!
i have a hard time believing your fingers are the fastest ... :)
i am not 'getting' the traffic light pic? assuming it's biker-friendly 'cause of the video cams? (in my defense, it IS monday and i am tired) ;)
Yes, the cameras on top sense that something other than a car is there waiting to turn or go straight so they trigger the signal to turn green. Normally most older traffic signals have only sensors that are part of the pavement that are only triggered by cars so if no cars are around, cyclists must often run red lights. Not good...
Dave looks FANTASTIC!!!! Thanks for the update. Whatever he is doing is working big time.
Did you start the tri club at your Y? would love to know more. I am a Y member and I wish we had one.
love the pics :) looks like you guys are having fun!
It's pretty amazing that Dave lost so much weight and bodyfat. He looks fantastic! I'm sooo jealous of your blog/triclub . . . I wish there was something so organized like that in my neck of the woods.
WAY TO GO DAVE!!! You can really see it in how lean he is looking.
Sounds like your weekend was packed with fitness fun like ours was. I LOVE IT...even if I am tired on Monday's.
What a great weekend and awesome work to Dave.
I am really curious about the "different kind of freestyle." While I may have followed the total immersion program as a model, I personally don't find it conducive to open water swimming and have to wonder if this person in the video might have a better idea on how to get through the water faster and just as efficiently as well.
Dave is looking good, you are one lucky gal ;)
great job dave!
Whoa there, busy lady! Awesome workouts!
And congratulations to Dave and his lean (although meanie, as you say) physique!
Congratulations to Dave.. and You!
Florida was glorious on Sunday morning, and I was 2nd out of 3 in my age group in the half marathon.
Thought of you when we were in Florida.
WOW!!! Good for Dave, that's amazing, and great job on the website, looks fantastic!
Dave is shredded. Fast fingers...I'm going to let that one go...
Seems like the cleaner eating is really suiting Dave. You both look FAB! Great weekend in pictures.
That's s oawesome that he lost that much weight already!! I jsut went back and read the post about the diet. It is very similar to what my trainer put me on but I ate more lean meat and very little fruit. It really does work...I jsut have a hard time sticking to it:-). However, I DID NOT loose 17# in a month...more like 6-7. It did take me a few weeks to adjust. I was very tired and cranky at most of my workouts for a few weeks.
You're looking great too!
Looking great. Beautiful photos. I don't think that your fingers are the fastest part of your body, you look in perfect shape.
Looks like a great weekend! So those traffic signals can tell when a bike is waiting for the light to change? Tell hubby he looks great!! Awesome job.
Ok... I got tired just with the thoughts of your work outs!!! you are amazing.. And congrats to Dave for the 17#
